Up to my eyes

Sorry to have been gone so long. I have been literally up to my eyes in boxes (ok I know that's only like 4'8" high but still.) I've been moving to this fabulous new apartment, but it's taking forever!

Then I snapped these the other day with the intent of putting them up and couldn't find my stupid camera cord. (it was in my purse) Now my dinosaur edition of Photoshop is putzing out on me so no cropping! YAY!

So I'm gonna go dive back into my work now. I have about 1200000(ish) more boxes to unpack, a desk to stain and put together, and legal internet to obtain. I'll be back in full swing soon. Promise.

A sketch.

Just a quick post to show a beginning and ending of a necklace design. First I draw inspiration from the materials. Usually one component grabs my attention and I work from there. This case the two green beads looked so nice together I worked with them.

Then I draw out my design. Usually just a pretty quick sketch.

I gather my materials, decide on the techniques I'm going to need to complete my piece, and...
VOILA!

In case anyone has missed it, I really love jewelry. I kinda obsess over it. Necklaces are my favorite, followed by earrings, but I very rarely buy them. I will, however, buy the Hell outta some rings. I adore how big rings make my already tiny hands look even smaller. I love the weight, i like to watch them move as I type or wire wrap. Weird right?Just like gloves, I love how rings accent and draw attention to my hands which are one of my favorite human features. They are so important! They are how most of us create. I know one of my greatest fears is damage to my precious creators, My nimble little spinners of magic. To quote Sandra Oh (yes I watch Grey's Anatomy. I don't know why. I don't even like it anymore. Don't judge me)
"My hands are tiny little geniuses." Love love love love the owl and the Carnelian.

Hendersonville, the epic jouney part three (the greehouse)

Now I know why people photograph flowers all the time. It's so easy to get a shot that is usable and beautiful. Plus, Macro. Hell yes.
I always have to photograph myself when I do my outfit shots. It's a little bit that I'm a control freak, and a little bit that I don't have anyone else to do it. If I could convince my boyfriend to take them we almost never see each other during daylight. So it was kinda a treat to have my Mom to shoot a couple of shots that my tripod just couldn't get to. All the ones in the little vignettes were shot my her. Yay Mom!


This was so cool that I climbed up into the little enclosure it hung in to get photos. I'm glad none of the staff saw me. I doubt they would have been pleased.

It was a good deal smaller than it looks. No bigger than a clementine orange. I just loved the creepy fingers it had.

Look out little black fish! The terrible dwelling doll will such your soul! Seriously though, this was beyond creepy. I don't know why they put it in.
I had a blast taking photos in here. I think we were in there nearly an hour. A big thanks to my Grandpa for being patient even though he was hungry.
