Want Wednesday

another Seychelles set

I'm finding Myself completely obsessed with yet another pair of Seychelles. This time its the "Turning Point" heel. One part sandal, one part low heel, total perfection. While I have a deep and abiding need for all of the colors, most likely I will break down and purchase myself a pair in green. I just feel like my summer won't be complete with out them. I' m probably being a bit overdramatic. Probably.
Thanks to Kaelah at Little Chief Honey Bee, I'm loveing these Old Navy dresses too. She wore it today on her Blog and looks so cute I'm dying to get one. And they are on sale. Crap. If you yell into my bank acount you can hear an Echo. Because its empty. And big empty things echo... like caves...anyway...

What's making your wallet light this season?

Tea For 2(sday) Honey Ginseng Green

I am a HUGE Fan of The Republic of Tea's Honey Ginseng Green. It's smooth and sweet on its own, even for a sugar fiend like me. I discovered it about 7 years ago working in the Books a Million cafe where we carried it. while the other Republic of tea blends are quite nice, none of them were ones that I felt the need to continue to purchase post employee discount. Unlike most green teas I find it allows for a few extra minuets of steeping (which works well for me as I frequently forget when I have a cup brewing) and doesn't immediately go bitter. If you would like to give it a try, and I highly recommend you do, without the full tin commitment, most Panera Bread shops (at least in Charlotte) carry it as a hot tea option.

While this tea is perfect warm in an adorable tea cup, it also make a delicious iced brew with a dab of honey. I'm carrying a bottle to work tomorrow.

What have you been drinking lately?
Luv,
Vanessa*

Mushroom Kingdom

Thrfting is a sport. I literally work up a sweat hauling about the massive pile of clothes, protecting my treasure pile from thieving hipsters (and old ladies), and trying on 25 items to come away with perhaps 3.  A huge chunk of the reason to get all sweaty and trying on clothes without a dressing room in public is the rush you get when you FIND something. Or when you find SOMETHING. Either way, EXCITEMENT. In the case of this sweater, I found SOMETHING. the second I laid eyes on this treasure, NOTHING else in my cart mattered. I would have elbowed a hipster right between the eyes to protect it. Not once did this glorious garment leave my shaking grasp before I checked out. I can't recall anything else that came home with me that day. There is a distinct possibility that upon finding my precious, I abandoned the stack that previously I had protected so adamantly, and gone straight to the register.  So I was extremely grateful for a few chilly days to be able to don the fun fungus jumper. In all likelihood, and sadness, this amazing piece will have to hang out in my closet for 6 or so months before I'm really going to be able to wear it again.

Warmer days are moving in, and my feet are itching (not literally. eww.)  to get into some sandals, but secretly, I will miss my sweaters and tights until fall. I think I may need to relocate to a cooler climate.

The End Of Winter

HOLY CRAP, I'm behind. I have seriously been lacking in the time department. We have been so busy with moving Beadlush to a new location, that my daily routine has not had any room for blogging. But our lovely new home is (mostly) complete and I've found a few minuets to post.

After the meekest winter I have ever experienced in NC, spring just didn't seen to want to come. The groundhog seriously misread his shadow this year. We spent the entirety of March in cold to chilly conditions (but still no real snow). The good news about extended chilliness is I get to layer for longer! Now at the end of April it's reaching a more typical Hot and humid Charlotte spring, but I still had this photo set to post. And I loved this outfit! This dress has a very low V-neck, which isn't usually my thing, and not great for cold weather. Layering to the rescue! My standby of a collared shirt and cardigan made this a bit more cozy. Add a contesting scarf, and this ended up being one of my favorite outfits this winter.

 Dress: Thrifted
Blouse: Also Thrifted
Cardigan: Forever 21

Hopefully, I'll have some more time for creating and posting soon.

New pieces

Shockingly, I have been working, pretty hard, at my table. I've been slowly tapping into my creativity to build new pieces. I'm still on a bit of a tribal kick, but I've been visiting some alternate influences as well. I'm digging SciFi posters and art (especially vintage stuff). The colors and textures are lovely and still use a lot of geometric shapes that I'm digging. So these are some of the first jewels rolling of the line.

My "Red Planet" necklace is available in my shop --> HERE
It fetures two of the summer's hottest colors, mint and coral, as well as robin's egg blue vintage glass, black carved bone, and brick red Agate.

Keep checking back, I have more pieces to put up soon!

Smile for the camera

Shooting isn't always fun. Even if the weather is lovely (as it was here) and the light is beautiful, and you feel cute, and your hair is behaving. Sometimes you are just having a total crap day, and it hard to muster up a smile. This was just kind of a crummy day, but I managed to get around to photos, so I wasn't going to skip! The result was strange urban outfitters catalog photos. I look extremely unhappy, and it's weird lighting. If I looked emaciated, then it really would look like UO.

And there's a real smile.
Here's a reminder to keep your chin up, and push on even when life isn't the easiest. And it really does help to dress a little bit extra pretty when you aren't feeling tip top. Bright colors and pretty jewels always brighten my day.

Keep Smiling,
Vanessa*
