Verdant

I kind of enjoy rushing to get photos. Sometimes the added energy brings a little bit more to the shoot. Today was not really one of those days. John and I are trying to work out some problems we have when shooting. Mostly, that I'm a huge control freak and want to see the photos every ten shots so I can correct what I don't care for, and he just wants me to stand still for godsake. He says it's like shooting a wild animal.  Anyway it's been had to get photos here, because if I have the time, and he has the time, it's been pouring rain. POURING. The minuet I have to be somewhere, or he takes a nap, sunshine. it's driving me bonkers. So we snapped these after lunch the other day in a 25 minuet window of sunshine. Seriously, it was pouring 15 minuets later. At least all the rain has been good for the plants. All I know is I need some rain boots in my life.

Buy American

When I was a kid I LOVED the 4th of July. I'm not always the most patriotic person.  (I'm especially mad about some of the current goings on in our local government. Get it together NC) but I love the idea that our county was built upon. Also the 4th was a holiday that always meant time with Dad, and explosions. Usually at the same time. Dad would get his hands on a mini display of (il)legal fireworks, and we'd hang out in the back yard as he set them off. He'd set off the bottle rockets, roman candles, fire crackers, ans single shot mortars, all while Mom scolded us from the kitchen. Then we'd pull out the fountains and sparklers and Mom would come out and join us.  All four of us would twirl around with tiny showers of star emitting from the wands in out hands. Sparklers never fail to make me smile. They are just a simple, nostalgic reminder of what it felt like to be tiny me.

And now for the obligatory sparkler photos.  (imagine fan fare playing on a brass orchestra)

But not a real green dress (that's cruel)

If you were thinking that this outfit looks just a bit springy, you would be 100% correct. You are looking at my St. Patrick's day garb. Yeah, that's right. March 17th. I have had these guys stuck in Lightroom unable to post them for months. I have no idea what went wrong, but when I loaded the photos into my computer initially, I somehow missed half of the file. I still lost about 1/2 of the photos, but managed to re-upload these. Yay! So you guys don't have to miss out on my kindergarten teacher cardigan after all.  Let's see if I can remember what we did that day...
We met in Plaza Midwood to move a table into the new building for work. Then we hit Common Market for a few beers. The rest of the day gets pretty fuzzy for some reason. I guess if you can remember all of St. Pat's you weren't really celebrating.

We are gearing up to celebrate July 4th this Thursday. Hopefully I'll be able to snag some obligatory sparkler shots.  And who knows, maybe I'll even get those photos posted before Halloween.
Have a safe and happy Independence day, All!
